     Reality is relative and because of it all experience is possible.  Our success therefore depends on how we treat each other.  In the recorded history of humanity, we have not treated each other very well at all.  We are, in the majority, egocentric, conflicted, life-negative, fear-based, competitive, judgmental, discriminative, bigoted and violent.  Our abuse of each other is staggering in statistical review. 

     It is easy to validate that our majority ultimate value, our common god, is money and in the name of our money-god we consistently invalidate each other.  The Biblical story of Moses and the golden calf idolaters is as pertinent today as it ever was.  We are mired in the material myth. 

     For many years, I have said that it is time for a new god… a god that represents our unity, our ground of being and our oneness… for it is in the experience of our oneness that most of our conflicts and problems disappear.  Recently in Washington, DC, I saw a sign on the side of a city bus that sums it all up:  “No God… No Problem!” It’s time for the old god of separation to be replaced and updated with a new god of unity. 

     Since religion and philosophy have not worked very well to date to unify us, perhaps we need to be more basic and simple in our approach.  Perhaps it is as simple and basic as the life that we all share.  Perhaps the new god is the simple yet profound life that empowers all and everything.  It is our ground of being, our commonality, our unity and our oneness.  It is ultimate value and sacred because without it we have nothing.  In this understanding, together we must evolve our value for the sacred life we all share.  As paradoxical as it may seem, life is indeed our salvation.
